The video above quickly shows analysis of the small rapid fire swarm that just recently took place likely under the northern tip of Yellowstone Lake. The amplitudes were not great, barely exceeding 4,100 amplitude count for the largest event, but the swarm was followed by a great many low amplitude low frequency seismic events. These tiny "poppings" were not present prior to the swarm and occurred right when the swarm ended. As of an hour ago or so, right now is 5:50UTC February 20, 2019 (9:50pm PST Feb. 19, 2019), the low frequency weak "popping" has calmed and was only seen after the swarm. This is quite odd and shows the small LF events after the swarm are likely connected to the swarm itself.

On February 16, 2019 a small but energetic swarm struck right near Mary Lake at Yellowstone. This type of rapid fire activity does occur at many locations within Yellowstone, but most of the time the most energetic swarms are centered around Yellowstone Lake and West Thumb Lake. Please CLICK HERE if you wish to see my page dedicated to 18 rapid fire earthquake swarms near West Thumb Lake from 2018 to 2014. Prior to 2014, it was hard to find these at such quantity. However, I am getting off topic. If you wish to see the Feb. 16, 2019 rapid fire swarm near Mary Lake, which contained approximately 20 micro-quakes within 13 minutes, then please click the title of this post or "read more" to continue. The video directly above is of the spectrogram stream for station YDD for the main burst of seismicity that occurred between Shoshone Lake and Lewis Lake at Yellowstone on January 23, 2019. This swarm was another rapid fire swarm, most of which usually occur near West Thumb Lake or Yellowstone Lake. Please CLICK HERE to see my page dedicated to the rapid fire swarms that occur in and around West Thumb Lake and Yellowstone Lake. It contains ALOT of data and info but the best swarms are highlighted!
