This is the seismic events page for events that occur NOT in the United States or Yellowstone. Any specific events I am interested in will be posted here if I have time including plots to a few of the world's largest earthquakes in the past few decades. Remember, this is mainly for fun than for work (unlike my seismo-blog and YouTube channel that I take more seriously). I will simply post the data and any relative information (i.e. reported depths/magnitudes) with as little chit-chat as possible. Please use this, and other seismic events pages, as a sort of example. I know I already have an earthquake example page but this will show data only generated by me using SWARM and the IRIS seismic archive.
If there are any discrepancies or mistakes please let me know immediately. Always pay attention to chart labels FIRST before you read the data and any image captions. If you require any additional data or plots, please let me know.

The Mayotte Event is probably the most enigmatic seismic mystery of our time. It produced a very specific dominant frequency of 0.065Hz. This event traveled the entire globe spanning vast distances. Usually when spanning thousands of miles, frequencies tend to attenuate (meaning they tend to lower with distance). However one of the many mysteries of this seismic event is how it spanned such great distances while still keeping the dominant frequency of around 0.065Hz, which is quite low. If you wish to learn more about this event, please CLICK HERE to visit the National Geographic article about it. This was first discovered by an amateur seismologist so this event could spark an interest in amateur seismology. If so, that would be great! So what caused this event? Let me know what you think. Below are the plots to the Mayotte Event. I have data taken from stations in Madagascar (closest to the epicenter of this event), Turkey, Japan, Canada, Ukraine, and Greenland. This event was truly phenomenal and will always be a mystery even if the cause is uncovered. The plots below are in slideshow format as usual so you can go through the plots using the arrows in the top right corner. Please also pay attention to any filter settings labeled anywhere on the plots below. Remember a high pass filter hides frequencies below what you have picked, a low pass filter hides frequencies above what you have picked, and bandpass filter hides any frequencies below and above the range you have picked.
Mayotte Event:
-Time/Date: 2018-11-11 09:32UTC (about)
-Magnitude: Unknown (could be magnitude 6.0 or so if confirmed to be a slow earthquake, however a slow earthquake would never act as it did here)
-Depth: Unknown
-Location: Supposedly east of Mayotte's coast and west of the northern tip of Madagascar
-Coordinates: Exact coordinates are unknown at this time
-# of felt reports: Nobody reported feeling this event. It is likely no one felt this even at the epicenter due to how slow the ground moved. However you never know! This is currently not reported to have been felt by anyone but the majority of seismic stations in the world detected this event.
