This swarm was pretty crazy! Over 160 earthquakes within only 52 minutes! This swarm is one of the best to listen to via the video I provided with seismic audio.
Start of swarm: 5:45UTC
End of swarm: ~6:37UTC
Note: This earthquake swarm was preceded by 3 earthquakes just to the southeast. Also notice how many events there were within only about 52 minutes? This is one of the most energetic, rapid fire swarms ever seen near Yellowstone Lake and West Thumb Lake. Around 160 events in only about 52 minutes. However many were very emergent and seemed to have led to an extremely shallow (possible near-surface) rupture just to the west of West Thumb Lake. Could all of this have caused a new hydrothermal explosion in a remote area? Someday I will find out! (I am referencing the most shallow reported event of the swarm.)
Total earthquake count (includes even the tiniest events): ~160
Reported count: 12
Magnitudes/Depths of reported events for this swarm from newest to oldest (showing magnitude/depth): 0.5 at 5.4km, 1.9 at -2.6km(!), 1.1 at 1.9km, 1.0 at 3.6km, 1.8 at 1.1km, 0.8 at 4.1km, 1.1 at 1.2km, 1.9 at 1.9km, 1.3 at 3.9km, 0.8 at 10.2km, 1.6 at 11.1km, 2.5 at 11.1km
Largest reported earthquake of this swarm: 2.5 at 11.1km (For main burst: 1.9 at -2.6km(!), 1.9 at 1.9km)
Largest amplitude: ~6,700 (B944), ~29,500 (YLT)
